Ghana’s subsistence farmers rely on small fields of tomatoes to sell. Each year they lose valuable crops to pests and disease, sometimes a whole field will die with the farmer never knowing why or how to prevent it for happening next year.
VIsited Ghana to deep-dive into agriculture ecosystem and conduct extensive user-research to find solutions specific to that population.
Design a visual diagnostic system that farmers could use with a basic cellphone, and receive treatment recommendations via SMS. Returned to Ghana later that year to test with farmers and hand-off to Ministry of Food & Agriculture.
