SPECTACLES 3 AR EFFECTS
In 2019, post-capture AR offered more creative flexibility for effects than a live camera. Spectacles 3 was built with dual cameras that could produce a depth map, allowing me to productize advanced features like segmentation, tracking, and depth mapping. It also gave me learnings about what can make great real-time experiences today.
PATH TRACKING
Using computer vision to estimate a path through the scene enabled a ton of creativity, like characters that respond to movements and elements that could be placed along a pathway to tell a dynamic story.
DEPTH MAP EFFECTS
Adding AR objects that could react as they collided with the depth map of the scene made any lens feel more immersive.
GESTURE INTERACTIONS
Having a hands-free platform like Spectacles 3 allowed me to experiment with gesture-based and tactile interactions with AR content.
